This week the theme was Olympics and Drama where the focus was on sport and being creative through Drama . The children took part in Olympic games and Olympic arts and crafts along with bringing their imagination to life by writing scripts and acting out their own short stories, which included characters such as swamp monsters and magical unicorns to name a few.

Our Montessori children focused on the Olympics this week and created Olympic worthy medals and trophies in arts and crafts. They also participated in Olympic relay races where some of the prizes made were given out.

Our junior after schoolers got into the spirit of Drama by making up their own poems and songs and performing them for their group……we may have the next Westlife being born in Links!! They also took over the pitch in the school for their own set of Olympic games.

Our senior after schoolers had their final trips to horse riding this week were they learned how to steer the horses and were weaving the horses through different obstacles in the arena. I’m sure the children will miss seeing their favourite horses each week, and we have been told that the horses (Toffee and Rolo in particular) are really going to miss all the Links children too. We would like to thank all the staff at Kilronan Equestrian Centre who were fantastic showing the children how to horse ride over the Summer.

All our after schoolers went on their excursion to Portmarnock Beach on Wednesday and had a really enjoyable day. They played football and volleyball, collected shells, and had a great time burying each other in the sand. There was also a sand masterpiece created by some of the Links 1 children.

Please note that we have to vacate Portmarnock Community School on Wednesday 20th of August and so Summer Camp will be held in the Creches next Thursday and Friday. Due to this we will be having our Sports Day and BBQ on Wednesday and all Parents are welcome to join us from 12pm onwards.
