Activities from our Baby Room

We had a very nice month in the Baby Room, where we welcomed some new babies, and they are settling in very well. It is lovely to make new friends. They are enjoying all the adventures here with us in baby room. Our babies got messy with some different colour painting and we used sponges to create a lovely texture. The feeling of the paint on the sponge was so squishy. We really enjoyed using our senses to do this activity.

For Space Day we used lights to make stars and moons on the ceiling and lay down and looked up at them. Some of our babies tried to reach up and grab the stars. We drew our very own rockets with our foot prints and we really liked how this felt on our toes.

For Easter we enjoyed lots of picture books and we listened to songs and poems. We made a big bunny rabbit from sponge art and we put it in our window so all our parents could see.

For Earth Day we got different materials from outside and looked at it closely. We explored leaves and sand, and played with water to feel like we are in the sea and lakes.

For Picnic Day we had a lovely teddy bear picnic outside with our bears and we will continue to do fun activities to encourage our children to learn and grow in a fun and loving atmosphere.

Stories from our Wonderful Wobbler Room

In our Wobbler Room this month, we welcomed three new friends, and we are so happy to welcome them to our room.

For Space Day we made a giant poster with stars and moons. The children helped us paint it and we decorated it with silver paper. They used sponges to make different textures, so the picture looked more like space. We also made a rocket and we went to garden and used to bikes to pretend to shot them to the moon on our rocket ship. We had great fun doing this and we all laughed so much.

We loved working on our five senses and brought in some flowers and fruits so we could smell the different flowers and taste the fruit. Some we liked, some were very sour. We made a texture board so we could feel all different textures and used things such as sand, sponges and paint to make bumps on the board.

Easter was lots of fun. We painted eggs and home-made cards and brought them home to our families but first we hid them all around the room so we could have a fun Easter Egg hunt. We loved our different coloured eggs. We read a book about the Easter Bunny and talked how we will enjoy our chocolate eggs.

For Earth Day we worked on making a recycling bin and showed the different coloured bins for all kinds of litter. We went outside and talked about the trees and plants and all the lovely things around us.

For Picnic Day we brought our snacks outside and enjoyed eating al fresco.

We spent a lot of time out in the garden and lots of the children are becoming more familiar with the bikes and other toys – their gross motor skills are improving every day.

Tales from our Toddler Room

This month in toddlers we welcomed some of the wobbler children as they made their way forward up to the Toddler Room. We also welcomed Matilda who is settling in nicely.

We were working on space this month and learned about the stars in the sky, different planets and how earth fits in. We talked about the moon and aliens too and did some lovely arts and crafts about rockets and stars.

For Easter, we made some easter egg pictures that our Educarers drew for us. We were able to paint them what ever colour we liked and made a display in our classroom so all our friends could see it when they popped into our room. We sang songs such as hop little bunny and read stories about the Easter Bunny losing his way and how people on his trip helped him find his way home. We loved our easter egg hunt that led us right out to the garden up the steps and down the slide.

For Earth Day we learned about recycling and how throwing rubbish out into the planet harms the world we live in. We talked about fruit and vegetables and how eating healthy is positive for our planet.

For Picnic Day we prepared a picnic with some yummy food and discussed what foods we bring on our picnics when we go out with our families and what different foods we eat.

Pre-School Room News

Pre-school 1

This month in Pre-school 1 we talked about Europe, naming parts of the world and talked about where all our parents lives and what kind of transports they use. We talked about visiting the airport and getting airplanes to other countries on our holidays. We played a game that we listened to music from each country, and we tried to guess where the music came from. We coloured the flags and made a big poster of Europe that we displayed in the classroom.

We celebrated Space Day by reading space books and sang songs we talked about who goes to space and what we needed to get up there. We also talked about how astronauts using rockets to fly to the moon and they needed to use a space helmet so that they would be protected.

For Easter we made arts and crafts with coloured eggs and handprints and coloured some eggs and enjoyed an egg hunt. We made some bunny masks so we could all pretend to be bunnies and hop around the garden.

For Earth Day we talked about the importance of looking after our planet and what we do know will affect the future so we need to recycle. We learned about solar power and how the sun can make energy. One of the children talked about how he saw windmills making energy in his park.

Picnic Day was spent spending time with each other and enjoying our snack bar outside in the sun.

Pre-school 2

Pre-school 2 spent a lot of time reading books after World Book Day. We had a great interest in all kinds of books. We made some beautiful pictures from ideas of books we enjoyed. This brought us to talk about fairy tales and made castles and crowns. We put magic spells on our Educarers and talked about the knights and the dragons. We had so much fun.

For Space Day we built a big rocket to the moon and read Aliens Love Underpants and we all laughed so much. We made lovely stars with gold paper and watched them twinkle.

We celebrated Easter with some little bunnies we made. They were different colours and we got to pick our own. We made some eggs for our scrap books and helped Helen, Mia and Agnes glue them down. We went to the garden and had fun hopping around pretending we were bunnies.

The farm was a very interesting subject that came from the children’s emerging interests. We all made our own farmhouse with our favourite animals. We talked about our trip to the farm with our families and how the pigs smelled bad. One of our friends explained how when she was in the farm, she saw a sheep get his hair cut.

For Earth Day we talked about how together we can live in a better planet and made a great poster we worked so hard on it and we all used our hands to make it. It was a great group effort.

We used Picnic Day to talk about healthy eating and we all brought in a small healthy snack, and we brought blankets outside and enjoyed the sunshine.

We look forward to May for another exciting month.
