Finally, the summer is here! The days are getting brighter and the evenings are getting longer too. With restrictions changing and
people able to meet extended family members outdoors, it feels like a very welcoming change.

Our children had such fun during our monthly events in May. They were so engaging and took a real interest in our curriculum topics.
We loved Firefighter Day, International Nurses Day and World Baking Day and for Rock N Roll Day, we had such fun dancing and
singing! We are delighted now have all our children back together. Each day is different and we make such it is jam packed with lots of
fun. Keep an eye out on our Social Media Channels for photos of our daily activities.
In this newsletter, we have shared some insight into the activities from each of our rooms that has taken place during the month of
May.
At the end of May, over 70 members from Team Links took part in a Links 10KM Fun Run, were over €2000 was raised for The Jack &
Jill Foundation. Thank you to you all for sponsoring and supporting us in raising these much needed funds for a very worthy cause.

Activities from our Baby Room

Boxes / Feet Sensory
Our babies were having lots of fun using boxes. They loved the sensory play in the boxes, but that was not as fun as
simply climbing inside the boxes! We did sensory dough, spaghetti, and painting using sponges and foil. They also
practiced their inside and out understanding by putting toys into the empty boxes and climbing in and out of their bus
box.

On Space Day the babies enjoyed story time about space. We also made a space sensory box using black rice crispies
and balls as the planets. Our Educarers Yaiza and Virginia even did a light activity that looked like stars in the night
sky!

During our feet sensory week, the babies had fun using their toes to explore instead of their fingers! We dipped our
toes into feathers, salt, rice crispies, paint, and even did a warm and cold-water sensory activity. We had the most fun
painting our feet and walking across a big sheet of paper and created our own colourful footprint mural that we hung
up on our wall in our classroom to see!

Hugs and Kisses / Food

Our babies love giving and getting hugs and kisses, so they also loved doing this topic! We did some messy painting
that our Educarers cut into love hearts to hang on our walls. We painted our lips and kissed paper and made a kiss jar,
but our babies here really enjoyed kissing the mirror.

For Picnic Day, we brought our toy kitchen foods to the garden for our own pretend picnic. We even had a car race
too!For our food themed week, we explored lots of different foods and their textures. We painted with peppers and did a
sensory food tasting and feeling activity, where we explored apples oranges and bananas. They loved exploring the
new food textures of jelly and rice crispies!
We said goodbye to our friend Juliet who moved to the Junior Wobbler room. We love waving hello through the
window at her!

We got to welcome our new friends Luca and Sofia to our room, we can’t wait to grow and play together!
And we also welcomed our new Educarer Grace to our room too!

 

 

Our Wobbler Room News

Junior Wobblers:

Day & Night / Food and Fairy tales / Transport

For day and night week our junior wobblers painted a big box black, and we put fairy lights inside. We made clouds and suns for our light wall, and stars and rockets for our
dark wall.

On Space Day we had lots of fun making Astronaut helmets! We did lots of fairy tale food themes activities like Snow White’s poison apple, Red riding hoods fruit baskets, a
Hansel and Gretels Gingerbread house, and even a Cinderella pumpkin. Our favourite activity this week was the sensory box of ‘magic beans’ we did with our Educarers
Alba and Maria!

For Earth Day we made our own Earths messy hand painting using blue and green paint.

Transport week was so much fun with the junior wobblers. We had fun making and playing with Cars, trains, planes, trucks, airplanes, and even hot air balloons. We watched
and listened to the trains and planes when we were in the garden. We loved making sounds like Vroom Vroom, and Choo Choo! And we can’t forget about singing our favourite
song; The Wheels on the Bus! We also pushed our toy cars through paint and across paper to make car tracks which was lots of messy fun.

Beach Animals / Food at a Picnic
We made a beautiful beach sensory box this week that we really had so much fun playing with. We painted a big box blue, that had sand, crabs toys and seashells our Educarers
collected on the beach for us. We even got to paint the seashells which was lots of fun. We also created some beach art like a paper plate crab, starfish and clams with
tinfoil pearls inside.

On fire fighter day, we painted paper plates red and we made Firefighter hats to wear!

We love our food here in the wobbler room so explored what kinds of foods we can find at a picnic. We made footprint hotdogs, lemonade cups, salad and made picnic
baskets. We also got to play with some food sensory bags.

For Nurses Day, we decorated some face masks which was tricky but messy fun.

Our Educarers also introduced us to play dough which was new and lots of fun.

We welcomed two new friends to our junior wobbler room in May. Juliet came from the baby room next door and our new friend Rian started too!

We also welcomed our new Educarer Celia to our room!

Senior Wobblers:

Fairy Tales / The Weather
We had lots of fun during fairy tale week. We made magic mirrors by gluing and sticking shiny material. We also loved making and playing with our magic wands and crowns to be princes and princesses.
During weather week, we learnt a lot about the different weathers. We made some paper plate suns, umbrellas and rainbows.
We loved listening to the songs and looking at stories and flashcards about the weather. We had so much fun making clouds
by sticking cotton wool to paper on the wall!

Picnics / The Four Elements
Us senior wobblers are super lucky because our classroom has a door right into the garden, where we spend lots of time! We brought our kitchen toys to the garden to had lots of pretend picnics and played with our new garden kitchen. We painted a big picnic basket and filled it with lots of our yummy picnic food artwork. We also had a game of Volleyball with our Educarers Aitor, Gema and Maria and we had a ball!

Learning about the four elements was a super fun and interesting week. For the Earth element, we planted lentils and did sand sensory play. For the Water element we did water sensory play, and we were learning our pouring skills to water the lentils we
planted. For wind element we made windmills, bubbles in the wind and for the fire element we did different temperature
sensorial play.

We also welcomed our new educarer Rocio to our room!

 

Tales from our Toddler Room 

Fairy Tales / Transport
We had a great time during fairy tale week. We made our own magic mirrors by gluing and sticking shiny materials and made paper plate elves. We also made the 3 Little Pigs
houses and we loved our Dragons we made out of toilet paper rolls that looked like they could breathe fire when we
blew through the tube!

We were very interested in transport we had a lot of fun during this week. We loved playing with our cars and trucks in the classroom, and playing with them in the garden with
our bikes. We loved taking the big boxes and painting them to make a big choo choo train and being in the train with our Educarers Beatriz, Pedro and Inma.

Summer Time
We had a lot of fun learning all about summer. We made a big sea out of a box with fish inside that we could catch with our fishing rods that we made out of string, plastic cups and
glue. We have made and learnt about a lot of beach animals like crabs, fish, sharks, whales, jellyfish and starfish. We also made a big ice cream stall and our own ice creams
ingredients like pretend cones and ice cream flavours to serve each other. We brought our kitchen toys to the garden to play with also.

 

 

Pre-school & Naíscoil Room News 

Preschool One
Universe / Transports
We loved working on the theme of the universe, especially the planets. We made a large mural with planets, the sun and the moon. We loved painting the different planets, and
adding them to our mural. We travelled on an imaginary intergalactic tour of the universe and created a space roads on a table to play with. For Pet day we all picked our favourite
animal and made a handprint painting of that animal. We also made tasty space cookies that we out of this world! For story time we read the book “My space”. In this book we
learned about the different materials that astronauts have, as well as their clothing and utensils.

We started our transport week with our morning meeting, where we talked about the different transports and our favourite ones! We went on a cycling through Europe tour
and we made our own big bike. We loved playing Traffic controllers in the garden on our bikes using the huge traffic lights we made to Stop and Go! We also became chefs this
week and used different transport shapes to make transport cookies, they we so yummy! We also made recycling trucks to understand more how we can take care of our planet on
Earth Day.

Olympic Sports / The Beach
We’ve been having lots of fun in May so far! We really enjoyed learning all about the Olympics and doing lots of sports activities. We made footballs, basketballs, tennis rackets, and
made our own Olympic games book to look at. We even made our own Medals that we got to take home. On
firefighter’s day, we made handprint fire engines and had lots of fun learning about firefighters.

We had lots of fun learning about the beach and summer. We made flip flops with our footprints. We also made umbrellas because it rains here too during summer! We really loved
painting seashells and playing in our beach sensory box full of sand and beach toys.

We are so excited to welcome our new friend Senan to our class this May! We hope you’ll have lots of fun in our preschool room.

Preschool Two
Europe / The Human Body
We took a trip to different countries in Europe to learn about their culture and architecture. We discovered the Eiffel tower, Spanish dancers, and St. Basil’s Cathedral Russia. We even
looked at the different country’s flags. We also had fun in the garden colouring with chalk and water play. We had a lot of fun learning about the human body and how
different parts of our body works. We made different types of skeletons. We measured our own heart rates. We did a little experiment about how our lungs works. Then we did a little
experiment about how our heart works. We got the chance to play with a toy human torso model and had to try to fix back all the organs of our body back in the right place. We drew a
big human body and stuck all the different organs to it. We also did baking and lots of different messy play.

Farm Animals and The Vet / Summer / Ocean Animals
We really enjoyed learning about farm animals and the vets. We used stencils to draw our favourite animals. We did a lot of roll play and made our own farm and we took care of the sick animals and brought them to the vet to be treated. We made a big green playground and pretend it was grass and added animals to it. We also made farm animals finger puppets and did a puppet show. We also did baking and ate our yummy cupcakes for Ruvendrens’ birthday!

Even though it’s raining a lot, we still loved learning all about Summer! We talked a lot about what we will do during summer time at the beach and read lots of stories about it. We had so much fun on firefighter day too. We dressed up as firefighters and our Educarer Szandra brought in her hose which we used to spray water in the garden like real firefighters!

Naíscoil
Ready for School / Europe
We had a lot of fun on our “ready for school” topic! We did a lot of activities about the big school, we got to talk about own siblings who are in big school, and we got to learn more about what primary school is like in stories and pictures! Jenny and Victor introduced us to the alphabet letters, and we were especially looking at our names. We made letters using the
sandpaper letters, using playdough and join the dots! And to celebrate Space Day, we did activities about space like, astronauts, planets and rockets!

During Europe week, we got to learn about other countries and their special monuments. Some of our class have parents who are Danish and French, and they helped us with our learning this week. We spent a whole day on the countries that had significant meaning to us as a class (Ireland, Spain, France, Poland and Denmark), and learnt about other countries too like Greece and Germany.

Spain: we made a flag, a monument (alcalas door) and crowns of king and queen of Spain.
France: colouring an Eiffel tower, created our own Mona Lisa and created our own Van Gogh masterpiece
Poland: colouring a polish castle, polish flag and hairband and heart with the polish colours
Denmark: colouring a little mermaid, colourful houses, tulips from the country and boats on the sea!

Summer time, Outdoor Games / Ocean Animals
We had a lot of fun in our summertime and outdoor games week. The weather/season is changing, and we were curious why and got to learn all about summer time. We learned about
summer animals like butterflies, lady birds, bees and fish in the sea. We also created some summer food art like
watermelon, ice cream and drinks to keep hydrated in the summer sun. We made a big mural with all our summer art that
looked like a summer beach! We also made umbrellas and raindrops to grow the summer flowers. We had a fun time doing
a traffic light game in the garden.

We also learnt about summer clothes and school clothes. We made big pictures on our wall of clothes like tshirts, skirts,
shorts, flipflops, sun glasses and sun hats. We also made in our big school wall, with the new school uniforms we will be
wearing. For firefighters day, we made a big fire man for our classroom door and painted a big hose to put out our the fire
we made by mixing red yellow and orange colours. In the garden, we drew a big fire on our chalkboard and put out the fire
with a real water hose.

This week we have been having fun making a big ocean mural full of ocean animals like sharks, fish, seahorses, starfish and
we made a big diver for the picture too!

After-school Room News 

Australia, Tv Hollywood and Superheroes
We had a lot of fun the last month doing a lot of art activities and spending lots of time in the garden on our new after
schoolers only big bikes! For Australia week we made a big Australia and looked at the different animals there, like koalas and
snakes. We were interested in tv and Hollywood and made our own big tv to put on our own tv shows. Helen also helped up
to make our own VIP passes to wear around our necks and pretend we were famous celebrities. Then we were interested in
making superheroes so we painted and drew our own superheroes to make a big super poster!
