A Spring in our Step

As we stepped into Spring at the start of February, it felt like there was a change in the air.
A change in the brightness of the day, with the evenings getting a little bit longer, and even a change in the growth around us, with
the little peaks of daffodils slowing emerging up from their sleepy roots.
It is a welcome change, and we are looking forward to much more that the Spring season brings to us.
Our children have loved being together again; learning about Spring, insects, colours and their favourite thing to play with –
dinosaurs! We had enjoyed learning from each other too, and just all have fun together. We are still missing all of our friends who
have yet to return back to crèche yet with us, but we look forward to when that will be again. Hopefully very soon. In the meantime,
we hope our children at home have been enjoying the videos we have posted on our Social Media Channels. And we hope they are
enjoying some of our curriculum learning at home too.
Feel free to share any activities you have been enjoying at home with us.
In this bi-monthly newsletter, we have shared some insight into the activities from each of our rooms, that all took place over the
first two weeks in February.
Our next newsletter for you will be in four weeks time, in the middle of March, where we will share more news with you on what our
children have been doing. Stay Safe.

Activities from our Baby Room

What a lovely two weeks our babies have had so far.

Our babies love song time and moving around, so we made up some lovely obstacle courses for them to explore. We used our hands and feet to make actions while we sang,
and when sang The Wheels on The Bus, our babies were holding their hands as if holding a stirring wheel.

Reflections and mirrors are a great way for our little ones to explore their faces and bodes. We painted on mirrors too so they could explore a different type of sensory play
through paint.

We also made our own mirrors from shiny silver paper and showed them the difference in the shades when placed upon light.

Sensory bags were enjoyed in abundance, as we added cotton wool and paint to it to create different textures for our babies to explore.

News from our Wobbler Room

Our wobblers enjoyed a lovely Circus theme, where they made lions out of paper plates and elephants out of their handprints. We also made a Circus tent and did some
practicing of our juggling too.

For our Colours theme, we made butterflies, caterpillars and bugs out of various arts forms and even used tea bags to create different textured art. We mixed colours to show
us that when doing this, it creates different shades and we used these shades to make rainbow art.

We love all things that have wheels, so when we were learning about traffic lights, we took out our cars and used them on our pretend roads. We made zebra crossings for
our characters and tunnels and bridges for our trucks.

Spring is here! And we have welcomed it in with open arm. We made flowers and a big tree by painting the trunk with our feet and making leaves with our hands. We also took
out our farm animals and displayed them on our Spring table.

What Have Our Toddlers Been Up To?

Our toddlers are a big fan of cars and wheels too and so when we made a traffic lights system for their cars and trucks, they
were so excited. We added Stop and Go signs to it too so they could learn about the safe ways to cross roads.
To love our excitement that Spring is here, we painted flowers and made ladybirds out of paper plates. We added bumble
bees to it too, as we like the colour of them.
We are also looking forward to warming weather so we added a sun to our earwork, in hope that it will come out soon to play.

Preschool & Naíscoil Room Adventures

Over the last two weeks, preschool and Naíscoil Rooms have loved learning about Dinosaurs. We made our own dinosaur prints and a dinosaur bones and fossils out of salt dough.

The children loved digging up their dinosaur bones and fossils and then burying them again for more fun.

Our making of dinosaur bones got us on the emerging topic of the human skeleton and our own bones and how they differ.

We also froze some dinosaur toys in water to dig them out of the ice, which we loved doing.

After-school Adventures

For our Spring topic of learning, our afterschool children made Spring flowers with plastic forks and painted sunshine’s with cotton wool, to add a different textured
element to their art.

We made love hearts for St Valentines Day and enjoyed lots of active play outdoors and during PE.

For our Spanish lessons, we learned some new songs and words about Spring.
