We have had such fun over the past three months, as we enjoyed the rest of the summer and the nice sunshine in July and August.

We took advantage of the nice weather outdoors and played lots of games and had fun with our friends in the fresh air.
In September, we welcomed lots of new children to our rooms and we have formed some lovely new friendships together.
Keep an eye out on our Social Media Channels for photos of our daily activities.

In this newsletter, we have shared some insight into the activities from each of our rooms that has taken place during the month of
September. We have also shared some photos with you from our July & August activities. We hope you enjoying browsing through them.

Activities from our Baby Room

This month in our room we were learning about animals of the farm, cars and trucks, about ourselves and friends and
the five senses.
We learned about the animals of the farm because we love the sounds they make; it was so funny playing with the
puppets, and we enjoyed the story time with our Educarer Laura and Barbara.
We also learned about cars and trucks: we dipped the trucks and cars in paint and made a lovely art piece with them. We
also mix the vehicles in a box with Rice Krispies as an amazing sensorial activity.
We learned about our body parts and we love to sing and dance “Head, shoulders, knees and toes”. What a funny song!
At the end of the week, we made a small book with our handprints and footprints as good memory of our feet and hand
size.
We learnt about the five senses, so we could found out what we are able to feel with our mouth tasting food or smelling
new things. What a feeling!
We made an instrument to shake and listen the sound and what happen when we do it faster or slower.

Stories from our Wonderful Wobbler Room

Our wobblers have been working on learning about the different forms of transport, all about them, their new life space, and
their emotions.
For our Transport theme, we learnt the names of the different transports, and enjoyed sensorial activity with transport toys .
We have created a car using a tissues box.
For All About Me, we talked with the children, observing their likes/dislikes and talking about their family members, relatives
and pets.
Our children are busy exploring their new life space. The little ones have been able to discover the different spaces in which
they will grow. For this we carried out different sensorial activities using their feet to discover the classroom and the garden,
using different textures with their hands (such as leaves, cotton, facecloths, toys.)
We all made a card with different textures representing our garden.
Introducing our emotions theme with the Colour Monster Story is a lovely way to talk about our different emotions and learn
to speak about our feeling. We talked to the children about emotions in real situations. Each child coloured their own
monster to express their feelings.

Tales from our Toddler Room

The month of September started with many changes for the Toddler room. On one hand, we have said goodbye to some of
our dearest friends as they moved onto the next classes, but on the other hand, we have welcomed other new friends. We
are so excited to make new friends and we know our old friends will give us a wave when we see them soon around the
crèche.
We started by getting to know our new class, our new classmates and our new Educarers. To do this, we established the
new schedules together with the different routines and we decorated each corner of the class to feel like at home.
We also chose our new pet, the giraffe. You can already imagine how fun it was painting with our hands, with our feet and
using different materials such as cotton or plastic plugs. To get to know each other better, the Educarers chose different
games, songs, games of trusting others, games to share and a lot of messy play (sand, play dough, water, Rice Krispies).
We had a great time but, we experienced different emotions. Consequently, we decided to create our own corner of
emotions with the Colour Monster and the characters from “Inside Out”, the movie, using plastic bottles, water and the
characteristic colours of each emotion (yellow for joy, blue for sadness).
Our favourite topic was cars and bikes, because we love racing in the garden and we have made a beautiful mural that is
full of planes, trucks, motorcycles.

Pre-School Room News

Preschool 1
A new course started in September, and we have worked hard to make this month unforgettable for our Pre-school 1 children.
We enjoyed our theme “All About Me” and made a mural introducing ourselves to all our new friends.
We also talked about our emotions, trying to express our feelings through different activities. We celebrated the Grandparents
Day, and it was amazing to watch our grandpa’s and granny’s video messages and to return the favour we made lovely cards for
them.
We also made time too for baking cookies and cupcakes, playing with our costumes and even to enjoy some yoga class.

Preschool 2
It has been one month since our new friends arrived in Pre-School 2.
We have enjoyed getting to know our new friends and we played with lots of new toys! We are having so much fun in this new
room with our Educarers, learning about lots of things like what can we see and find in Portmarnock and Malahide, how big is the
beach or how fast the dart goes. It’s amazing all the things that we we discovered about a pure community.
Happiness, anger, sadness is some of the most popular emotions that we have experienced. Our friend the Colour Monster and
some others were introduced to our children in Pre-School 2, showing them how important it is to understand and listen to our
friends, families and peers.
We also talked about how to help someone and to say thank you and sorry when needed.
What an amazing week they had, learning about emotions and feelings with all those monster around the room for a whole week.
They even made a Puppet Monster to show what they have learned to their parents.
All About Me was a topic quite interesting for them. After getting to know their new friends in the room, they were talking about
their families. They had an opportunity to see everybody´s family pictures through our family tree where children can show and
talk about their family members.
They were making art and crafts together for their scrapbook and their grandparent’s too.
During our garden time the children were searching for insects, which was quite an amazing experience for them. We used this
interest to talk about different types of insect’s through messy play, art and craft, games, activities, and stories for every child to
discover and enjoy a lot about it.

After-School Adventures

What a great month it’s been in After-school!
We started off the month with ‘Music & Fitness’ and we did lots of stretching, dancing, yoga, movement and singing. We had a
Hula hoop challenge, played football, basketball, volleyball and had lots of races and obstacle courses. We listened to lots of
different genres of music and tried to differentiate which musical instruments were involved in making the music. We also
made our own musical instruments using recycled materials which was lots of fun!
‘Welcome to After-school’ was our next theme as although we welcomed back a lot of familiar faces, we also had some new
friends to get to know too. We talked about our new classroom, our new equipment, how fun our summer holidays were and
tried to get to know one another. We also had some very special friends join our after-school room, our new fish Nemo &
Goldilocks! We helped to set up their little fish tank, made sure their water was nice and clean and took turns to feed them
every day!
‘All about me’ was a hot topic this month, we talked about our families, siblings, where our parents and grandparents came
from, where we live, when our birthdays are and our favourite colours etc. We painted self-portraits and hung them proudly in
our classroom. We also drew our family tree and celebrated ‘Grandparents Day’ by watching videos of our grandparents and
making a banner to decorate our reception area.
‘Under the sea’ – We talked about all types of sea creatures, from clownfish to great white sharks. This stemmed from us
welcoming our new fish Nemo & Goldilocks. We painted lots of different types of sea creatures, talked about sharks & whales
and made octopus with cardboard rolls. We read “The snail and the whale” which was one of our favourite stories. Did you
know that a sharks sense of smell is 10,000 times better than a human?!
‘Medieval times’ – This was one of the themes that popped up in the After school brainstorming session. We were so intrigued
by castles, knights, kings, queens & princesses. We got to dress up in different costumes from that era, listen to stories about
how the dragon guards the castle with the princess and the knight saves the day by rescuing the princess. We did lots of arts
and crafts, creating our own castle, crowns & a big fire breathing dragon!
We are so excited to see what next month has in store for us!
