Preschool Room News

Preschool 1:
We started this month learning the changes that come with spring and doing lots of fun arts and crafts. We looked at the life cycle of the butterfly and frogs and the animals of spring. We started talking about the transition some of the pre-schoolers will be making to big school. We were also learning about dinosaurs and pretending to be archaeologists.
This month we celebrated Valentine’s Day making cards for our loved ones. For the midterm break we had the pleasure of having some of our after schoolers join our class, where they treated the pre-schoolers with a story they had wrote.

Preschool 2:
Our preschool 2 class has had an exciting month of February. We were very fond of books, so our teachers brought new books from Spain into the class. Every time they opened one of them it was a magic moment when we all travelled to the world of the characters of the stories. Our favourite one has been the very hungry caterpillar. The caterpillar has taught us how important it is to eat healthy food. And it has also taught us how interesting it is the life of a warm which turns into a beautiful butterfly.
Then we linked the caterpillar story with the life of some animals and plants. We realized how important it is that we look after all the living beings. So, in order to create awareness we planted our own plants in our nature corner. Then we even made a commitment for looking after our planet: We painted the Earth and put our handprints around it as a symbol of our commitment.
In February Jack and Patrick turned 3, and Jacob 4. We made them a crown and celebrate their birthdays having a dance party.

Afterschool Room News

In February we didn’t just work hard on the homework but we also had lots of fun. We did lots of paintings, collages and colouring. We have used different skills over different arts and crafts. Our after-schoolers had the free choice to do things they like and to improve in the areas that they are interested in. We have spoken about St. Valentine’s Day. Where is coming from and what exactly we celebrate. The children had an opportunity to make their own Valentine’s Day cards.

We also had lots of outdoor time, playing in the garden. There the children get involved of different sport activities like football, basketball, “Simon says”, “Statues” and lots of other games.

We also include activities as a Story time. Children are most welcome to bring their own book and read it or to enjoy the books provided in the crèche. We have a puppet theatre where we bring our stories to life and children take a part of it. We discuss the stories and learn about the positives they bring to us. Our afternoons are busy and we never get bored.
This month was the midterm break and some of after schoolers were joining us from the morning and having lots of fun and activities with our preschoolers. They were sharing their experience to the small ones and telling them more about the big school and the rules there.
