What a lovely month we have had during June. As the restrictions have lifted slightly, we are enjoying the stories our children are
telling us, about them meeting up with Grandparents and relatives outdoors.

We shared some lovely moments, engaging in our exciting activities and we made some special memories with our Pre-school
children, as they graduated from Pre-school class. We are so delighted for them, as they soon embark on their next big journey of
Primary School. Before then though, we are looking forward to creating more memories with them during the Summer months.
Special thanks to all our Educarers and staff who made Graduations such a special day for our children, and thank you Chef Eamonn for
the amazing cake that he made.

We loved our Summer Festival, celebrating the Euros football tournament, and for Fathers Day, we got very creative and made some
lovely cards and artwork for them. Keep an eye out on our Social Media Channels for photos of our daily activities.
In this newsletter, we have shared some insight into the activities from each of our rooms that has taken place during the month of June.

Activities from our Baby Room

We had a very fun month in our baby room! A month filled with arts and crafts, messy play, and
garden play. We focused on professions, supermarket, transport, and sports.

Professions – We made a firefighter for arts and crafts, making our very own stethoscopes as we
pretended to be doctors, making chef hats with white paper, and making cardboard briefcases and
phones as us babies mean business!

Supermarket – We made some arts and crafts cupcakes, making a shopping market with
cardboard boxes, colouring in our favourite foods, and creating breakfast by placing all our food onto
plates to serve.

Transport – For transport we made a hot air balloon in a group activity, we enjoyed getting wet
in our car wash messy play, we also made a bus, plane, cars and a pirate ship during arts and crafts.

Sports – We made basketballs by finger painting onto the circle pages with orange paint, making
footballs with crepe paper and making some hockey sticks.

All the babies are Olympic athletes after receiving their medals from all the hard work during our
sports week!

News from our Wobbler Room

We have had a fun filled month here in our wobbler room! We focused on families, summertime, insects, being a chef and
Father’s Day.
We were learning all about our families as we see our wobblers get greeted at home time by brothers and sisters and receive
big hugs, so we wanted to talk about them in the room also. We painted our own finger family too.
For summertime we done multiple activities related, we had some fun sand and water play representing going to the beach.
We talked about sun cream and that it is important to wear it on a warm and sunny day and to drink lots of water!
While enjoying some garden time our wobblers found a couple of little spiders and showed good interest in them, so we
decided to do insects for the week. We made ladybugs, made spaghetti worms, and painted a spider & centipedes.
We love playing in our indoor and outdoor kitchen areas cooking up some tasty food so we decided we would have some
tasting fun and prepared peppers, onions, lemon, and lime for the children to taste to see which ones they liked. We then role
played restaurant in which we had chefs cooking up the food and our customers enjoying it.
We knew Father’s Day was coming up so we created some lovely “world’s best daddy” medals for them to bring home.

Toddler Room News

What a fantastic month we have has in our toddler room. This month we focused on dinosaurs, mini beasts, under the sea
and outdoor activities.
For our “dinosaur” week we created a dinosaur house with a cardboard box and painted it brown and added some leaves
and branches into the box with our dinosaur figures. We also painted a big cardboard t-rex. We done a sensory activity in
which we put green and white paint inside Ziplock bags, and the children squished and squashed the paint inside and we
then drew a dinosaur onto the bags. We made dinosaur stories by using flashlights to make the shadows on the wall. While
doing all of these we learned some new dinosaur songs to sing throughout the day.
For our “mini beast’s” week, we created a butterfly by making our handprint on one side of a sheet of paper and when
folded over and re-opened it made a beautiful butterfly. We created a sensory activity in which we collected lots of leaves
and lay them across the table and we imagined our fingers walking along the leaves was spiders, caterpillars, and ants.
For our “under the sea” week, we created an ocean poster by cutting a cardboard box in half and we painted it blue. Then
we used sponges with pink and purple paint to create our fishes to add to the ocean. We also had some fun water play with
our sharks swimming through the water.
For our garden play we focused on some balance and co-ordination by creative some fun P.E games for the children to take
part in. We had jumping, spinning, and running games to focus on these and had some ball games to work on our motor
skills. We also took some time to create some lovely father’s day cards by painting our hands and feet with paint and
putting them onto the cards.

Pre-school Room News

The children love dinosaurs. These giant creatures really seem to capture the children’s imagination. Luckily, we have some
fantastic toy dinosuars in our classroom to support our children’s learning. This month we created a prehistoric dinosaur land
from playdo where the dinosaurs could stomp around, making footprints which would quickly become fossils.
Helping and supporting our children to understand and label their emotions and that of other children is hugely important in
preschool to sustain our children’s health and wellbeing as well as their identity and belonging and their developing
communication skills. The children love the story of the colour monster, following on from this story the children identified the
different colours of our emotions, discussed the things which make us happy and sad and why we feel like this. The children
baked fantastic happy faces to eat at home.
As restrictions started to ease, we started to hear lots more conversation about the children meeting up with cousins and
friends. We talked about who lives in our homes and created little lollipop stick houses complete with drawings of our families.
We shared some of the summer traditions such as getting together to have a BBQ in our garden. This extended into a role play
activity. Firstly, in partnership with their Educarers the children in small groups crafted a bbq and made food and equipment.
Then the children hosted their own bbq party taking turns to serve and cook this friendly summer get together.
We celebrated our own summer festival with ice cream crafts and created a wonderful summer wall display to brighten our
classroom.
To celebrate the start of the EURO 2021 the children decorated the garden with flags and played football outside. Indoors, the
children created a mini football stadium and made finger puppet football boots so that the matches could begin.
Father’s Day always gives the Educarers a little giggle as we find out from the children what they love best about their wonderful
‘super hero’ Daddies. Some of the wonderful answers included, ‘my daddy smells like bananas,’ ‘my daddy makes me better
with magic kisses when I’m sick,’ and ‘I love my daddy because he can fly to the moon.’ Well done everyone for all your super
answers.
All month behind the scenes the children have been immensely busy preparing for the preschool graduation, to ensure we
provide them with a memorable send off. What a fabulous day was had by all. Throughout the month the children decorated
and painted posters to create our very own ‘Wizard of Oz’ themed backdrop. They decorated souvenir t-shirts to always remind
them of all the wonderful friends they have made during their time here in Links Childcare.
The children we congratulate and wish every success on their transition to ‘Big School’ include: Vasco, Alice, Ibrahim, Mariia,
Evie, Siya, Eabha, Lou, Lexa, Ben, David, Duru, Karma, Aria and Hashaam.
