It has been such a wonderful month of glorious summer weather. We have been enjoying lots of outdoor play and fresh air.
Our Summer Camp activities has been very popular with all of our children, and we have enjoyed a mixture of Science, Olympic
games, fun during Wild Wild West Day, and more.

Activities from our Baby Room

Our babies had such a brilliant month learning about construction, trees and flowers, summer,
and rainbow day and how we communicate with each other!
We heard the phones ringing, so we picked up our phones and called our mommies and daddies. We
painted our own phones so we could ring all the rooms in creche. We painted a computer, and we
were sending Antoinette funny emails!

We used our feet and paint trucks and the feeling of the paint in our toes made us giggle, and we
used our blocks to build a big tower! Then we lay down on the floor and our teachers
drew a building around our body, we were so shocked and happy to see how well it turned out!
We made a road out of paper and markers and then we got our cars and pushed them up and
down the road. We coloured a castle using crayons to improve our pincer grip, when we finished, we
got our animals and put them up the very top of the castle!

We have had the nicest weather the past few weeks, so we painted a big glass of lemonade to
have a drink of. We picked some flowers to make a flower crown for our summer festival.

News from our Wobbler Room

We had a fantastic month in the Wobbler room, we had activities based around our chef and different food, houses and
builders and camping and summer!
We were really interested in our chef and the different food he brings us; we painted our own chef hats and then used these
hats to do some cooking in our kitchen in the garden. The children were using spoons and forks and trying to feed each
other.
There was a builder looking at the windows and the children were watching him with amazement, we build our own tower,
and the children were pointing at the builder while building towers. They constructed hammers and drills using cardboard
and then we painted what we think our houses look like.
We had a summer party, and the children were dressed in their summer clothes, we had a disco and brought some toys to
the garden to clean with water and some cloths
We were playing in the garden and the children found some flowers growing and started to point at the trees! We all picked
our favourite flowers and used these to do painting! We made flowers from paper and painted them with our favourite
colours. We found a new story called ‘We Planted a Tree’
One day we were having fun in the garden with the big parachute, the children had so much fun, so we decided to have our
own picnic in the garden with our snack, we used some old cardboard to make our very own picnic box, we packed our box
with food and utensils to help us with the picnic! While they were having their picnic an educarer read them a story book
called ‘We’re Going on a Picnic’.

Toddler Room News

What a fantastic month we had in our toddler room! We had activities based around body parts (My Body), bird species,
buildings, and cities and the four seasons.
For learning about the body, we made some handprints with paint, footprints with paint (which we then turned into flip
flops for summertime), we used the toys to put around our body as we lay on the floor to see out body shapes when it was
finished, we had some balance games to see what our bodies were capable of.
We showed interest in birds flying in our garden, so we decided to learn about all the species of birds, we made some
handprint pigeons, made parrot kites, painted a big sky for all our birds to fly in and we made eagles.
For buildings and cities, we created a castle with brown paint, they created a hospital using white paint and used their
fingers to create the “+” with red paint on the front and created a role play city using cardboard boxes which the children
built themselves.
With the nice weather finally here, we used this to discuss about all kinds of weather and seasons and natural change and
growth. The educarer’s showed the children pictures of plants and trees and how they grow. We then proceeded to make
our very own trees with coloured paper and paint. The children done some lovely leaf art by painting the leaves and
stamping them onto the pages. The children created a snowy picture by gluing cotton wool onto a blue page and talk about
what to wear when its cold outside. To follow this activity, we got ice cubes in a box for the children to have some sensory
fun to feel the cold ice. The children created some flowers using crepe paper, card and paint and pretend to water them
with the watering can.
We really enjoyed the nice weather and had plenty of outdoor play full of activities. Bringing some toys outside and water
play and numerous P.E games too.

Pre-school Room News

Preschools first task to launch our summer camp was to make
the children to make their very own art folders to keep all their
wonderful creations safe until it is time to bring them home.
What colourful and imaginative folder the children produced! The
children were free to decorate their folders with whatever
materials they wanted paint, crayon, and stickers. The topic of
interest also included all about me and friendship, the children
created pictures of themselves, a friendship tree, discussed the
value of friendship and how to be a good friend.
Preschool children love gluing and sticking creating their own
special collages expressing and reflecting their own ideas on
summer holidays. Some children created various animals
including ‘Dolly’ the sheep using cotton balls.
For Wild West Day some of the children arrived in cowboy
costumes and together with the educarers the children created
fantastic ‘most wanted posters’.
One of preschools favourite events is going on a bear hunt. The
children made Brown Bear hand puppets from brown paper
bags, and assembled the bears body parts to create their very
own special puppet. Then the children went on a bear hunt
inspired by the timeless children’s classic story ‘We’re going on a
bear hunt.’ The children enjoyed this so much that they made
animals masks to disguise themselves from the bear!
To keep fit throughout the month of July the children have been
exploring various physical activities in the garden by creating
their own jumping and climbing challenges and tried some yoga
too. We also introduced hula hoops and some coloured rubber
spots to our outdoor challenge. We also looked at healthy eating
creating a food pyramid and baking some healthy oatie cookies.
To celebrate our summer festival the children made cool
lemonade crafts and explored painting with sprigs of lavender
and painted animal stencils using dishwashing brushes.

For science week the children were introduced to lots of
new language and phrases associated with our science
experiments which included the ‘magic milk’
experiment, a rainbow volcano and lava lamps. We
researched some interesting facts about some
influential sciences including Albert Einstein, Isaac
Newton, and Marie Curie.
