In The Full Swing Of Spring

Over the past four weeks, we have had such a busy, fun filled time, learning and playing together.

From themed events for Carnival Day, enjoying lots of dancing, singing and all things colourful, to diving into the different fantastic worlds in our story books for World Book Day. It has been most fun.

Pancake Tuesday was enjoyed with lots of tasty homemade pancakes made by our amazing Chefs. We also helped support Mental Health Ireland by taking part in their Smiley Pancake Day. Thank you to all who donated and supported.

We are delighted to welcome back some of our ECCE children. It is so great to be together again.

We are still missing some of our friends who have yet to return back to crèche with us, but we look forward to seeing them soon. In the meantime, we hope our children at home have been enjoying the videos we have posted on our Social Media Channels.

And we hope they are enjoying some of our curriculum learning at home too. Feel free to share any activities you have been enjoying at home with us.

In this newsletter, we have shared some insight into the activities from each of our rooms that has taken place over the last four weeks .

Just a additional note to say that our Baby Rooms are nearing capacity in all of our crèches for 2021 so we would like to advise any parents that might be expecting and if you require any sibling places, please enroll as soon as possible. Application forms are available from us or you can also contact Kim from our Admissions Team on kim.jones@linkschildcare.ie.

Our next newsletter for you will be in four weeks time, in the middle of April, where we will share more news with you on what our children have been doing.

Take Care.

Sarah

Activities from our Baby Room

Our babies enjoyed learning all about the season of Spring and enjoyed exploring the different events that happen in Spring.

We used or window and garden time to let the children investigate and observe the different types of weather we experience in Ireland at Spring. We also learned about how different events start to occur, such as new growth, and the end of hibernation.

Our Educarers decided to create a Spring tree and decorated it with some hand and footprints using lots of beautiful Spring colours. We made some colourful handprint flowers to decorate our room too.

We explored Animals of Spring too.

Our babies made some bumble bees from their handprints to decorate our beautiful Spring tree.

We read lots of books about animals and made some bookmarks to celebrate World Book Day.

We also created some sensorial boxes and placed different animals in so that each baby could investigate the different shape and texture of all the animals in our room. The babies also designed a ladybird, which we painted using different parts of our bodies.

Our babies were very curious as we explored and learned about the different parts of our bodies. We sang lots of different body part songs and the babies really enjoyed dancing and mimicking the actions. We then drew a life size image of a body and all its different parts, such as arms, legs, ears.

We celebrated International Woman’s Day by painting some purple handprints.

Our babies designed a sensory book using different fabrics and materials to share with their friends within their room.

Stories from our Wonderful Wobbler Room

Our wobblers had lots of fun with our flowers of spring theme. We collected some flowers and leaves from the garden an done some stamping with some lovely spring colours.

We also explored all the different colours of spring with our Educarers. We created a beautiful birdhouse for our garden area and really hope it may attract some birds for the children to observe.

Another theme we enjoyed exploring was all about our body. Our Educarers and wobblers worked together to make a life size picture of a little girl.

They used different materials for her hair and a colourful pompom for her button nose. We then designed some weather appropriate clothes to decorate our model!!

Our wobblers also designed some bookmarks to celebrate World Book Day

Our wobblers are such little explorers. We learned all about the different animals we would find in the zoo.

We sang lots of songs and activities to learn about the different animals, where they live and what sounds they make. The children designed some animal masks and puppets for role play.

Tales from our Toddler Room

Toddlers had lots of fun learning the different colours through games like twister. They also enjoyed exploring what happens when we mix certain colours. We also made our own book called The Colour Monster!

We got to enjoy lots of pancakes for Pancake Tuesday, made by Aoife.

We love to dance and sing, so we enjoyed our time exploring music and instruments. We created lots of new instruments for our room like shakers and drums. We also painted pictures of instruments to decorate our room and had lots of fun singing and dancing to our favourite songs.

For Mini Beast Day, we went on a hunt in the garden and found a big worm!

With the weather a bit warmer, we learned about the different types of clothes. We made mini clothes with crepe paper and talked about what we need to wear if it is hot or cold.

Our toddlers celebrated World Book Day by reading lots of stories (one of our favourites is The Gruffalo), and made bookmarks for our books at home.

We also focused on birds as we noticed there is a bird’s nest in the garden which gathered huge interest. We are making bird houses for the garden and gathering twigs to try and made our own nests.

We also be made lovely cards for Mother’s Day.

Preschool Room News

A lot of our children showed an interest in sharks so we decided to focus on all the animals we can find under the sea. We made jellyfish and crabs.

The children then wanted to make ships, so we all pretended we were pirates and went on a pirate hunt for treasure with maps we made.

As the children discussed under the sea, they started to discuss mermaids. So we focused on all the types of mythical creatures. We made mermaids, dragons, unicorns. We also decided to make fairy doors for the garden.

We looked at the life cycle of a plant. We also did some leaf painting and planted some things of our own. We grew rocket and cress.

We created our own farm using hay, a recycled box and all the farm animals from our room.

During Mini Beast Day we had a look for some insects in the soil. We found worms, slugs, snails, spiders, and a centipede. We then made our own insects like bumble bees, ladybirds, and snails. We also collected soil, leaves, and sticks and using recycled materials we created a bug hotel.

On Carnival Day we made masks and had a parade in our class.
