Activities from our Baby Room

Our babies were learning all about the different types of animals and the sounds they make! We made our own lions and tigers by using our hands to paint. We read a lot of books about animals and even sang “we’re going to the zoo”

We collected leaves and made a sensory basket outside in the good weather.

We loved picking the flowers in the garden, and bringing them into our room and adding them to our play doh and see what happens to it. We painted our own flowers using our fingers and toes. We added flowers and leaves to our sensory basket to play with.

For Easter, we painted our very own Easter eggs and bunnies! We did some sensory activities with cotton wool to represent the bunnies cute fluffy tail. We sand “sleeping bunnies” a lot to get us ready for the Easter bunny.

Our babies have been loving the shakers this week so we decided to make our own shakers with rice! Doing a lot of sensory play with gloupe, play doh and rice and what sounds the different textures make.

Stories from our Wonderful Wobbler Room

Wobblers loved exploring our circus theme through sensory play. We made different activities like making a wobblers circus using a box which was pained by them and using the animals to create a show. The last activity was making kites representing clowns at the circus. They loved to explore the circus life and create shows.

They love messy play with animals, so we created different scenarios about the lifestyle. For one we did messy play with water and sea animals to explore how they live. Then we stuck some Weetabix and leaves from the trees for the earth life. They could explore he different environment of them. Another activity was when we made some masks. They coloured them and then we stuck some sensorial materiel and put a stick so we could start using it.

On Easter week we decided to promote their interest in the topic. We created a huge egg using sensorial materials and sticking on hands with yellow paint. We did small eggs as well as sticking paper + cotton. Then the last activity was making a bunny hiding in the grass sticking with sensory materials.

Our wobblers are very talkative this month. So as we would like to promote their interest and vocabulary we will work with that. We will propose daily words that they can use frequently like ‘chairs, table, water, fridge, door and window’. We will draw them and stick them to the blackboard and they can see it at all times.

Tales from our Toddler Room

This month started with nice weather and our toddlers were interested in Spring! We discovered all the animals in the garden. We crafted spring decorations for the room and we made our own garden display.

Discovering the animals and insects our Toddlers were interested in what they eat. We were working with the kind of food they like to eat and discovering that animals like different kinds of food.

Talking about food made our Toddlers be interested in the supermarket and going to the shops. We crafted our own market and money and show them real products to play with. We decorate our room like a market to enjoy the pretend play. It was so exciting!

Toddlers were interested in music and instruments. We showed them different instruments and the sounds they make. We did shakers and played lovely music and songs. We used even our feet to paint and make violins.

Pre-School Room News

Pre-school 1

Universe and solar system:

We are learning about the planets and solar system. We make our own galaxy using paint on black paper and we also made our very own solar system using paint and tin foil. We decorated activity street with our beautiful solar system so our parents could see what we have learnt this week.

My routine:

Having a routine helps our children feel organised and self-sufficient. We created a range of routine activities for this week:

Morning routine, night routine, daily conversation, individual and group activities, and visual activities.

We made a routine book each to support our children e.g. wash your teeth, wash your hands etc.

Easter:

Our children were so excited about Easter. They spoke a lot about the chocolate eggs and the Easter bunny. We made decorations like Eggs, children and bunnies. We also coloured some egg and did an Easter egg hunt in the garden. Then Mr Bunny came to visit us!

My family:

We made some portraits of the meaning of our family. And portrait collages to create our children views on the different members of their family.

This was a great theme to do with our children because we can either do it independently and we combine with the theme all about me and we talk about different families.

We encouraged them to draw a family picture and tell us the story behind the picture. We asked each child who is in their family. We used sponge painting to create a family portrait, we made collages with magazines and made up songs about our family.

We talked about different countries eg Germany, Spain, Ireland etc and we talked about their culture, their flags and their different food.

Teamwork:

We have looked at our teamwork and all the moments we use to share with one another. We use our listening ears with our friends when playing which is so important. We are learning how to work together as a team- like in the garden when we use the parachute for games.

Music:

We are interested in music and sounds. We love to listen to songs and create our own sounds. We created our own band and our own instruments. The children are interested in the different rhythms and sounds all the materials make.
