Welcome to the November edition of our newsletter from Links Childcare Clontarf.

November has been a busy month in all our rooms, as we prepare for our Christmas concert and our festive winter celebrations. We have been concentrating very hard on learning all the lines to our Christmas songs and we cannot wait to give you all a festive performance to remember.  We hope you like our Christmas decorations! Our children and our afterschool children worked very hard to help us decorate it.

We had a month of learning all about the winter season and the changing of the weather. Our Educarers taught us all about winter hibernation and the different types of animals who hibernate in the winter in order to keep themselves and their little ones safe during the cold months.

Our STEM learning was a great way for our children to learn about this important topic. It opened up conversations about counting, coding, science and more.

And thank you to all our parents who voted in the Links Childcare Employee of the Year for 2019. Your voice and your vote matters. Thank you for your time in doing this. Our winner in Clontarf is Leticia Benito Salcedo and I am sure you all agree, she is a worthy winner!

Last but not least, we would like to send you all a massive THANK YOU for all your gorgeous shoe boxes for the Team Hope Shoe Box Appeal. Collectively you helped Links Childcare collect almost 300 shoe boxes. These will all be going to a great home this Christmas and will make a child very happy.

We hope you enjoy our newsletter and we look forward to lots more fun & festive learning next month.

Kind regards,

Sarah

Baby Room News

In November we welcomed our new babies: Jeannie, Chloe and Emma to our classroom.

This month was full of activities:

We introduced the parachute to our babies. They were fascinated with the colours of the parachute and they watched it move in many ways up, down and all around. We played games with it and the children were really engaged.

We did a ‘massage hour’ with them and they really enjoyed the manipulation and touch on their backs, tummy’s, arms and legs.

The most exciting day for them was Pyjama Day. All of the babies came dressed with their lovely pyjamas and they got to wear them all day, we were very cozy in the Baby Room.

A very special happy birthday to Emma who turns 1 this month! We can’t wait to celebrate with you.

Wobbler Room News

This was a fun month for our Junior Wobbler Room! We enjoyed Science Day, celebrating Mickey Mouse’s birthday, Pyjama Day, Vegan Day and Winter animals and pets.

For Science Day we used empty yoghurt containers and planted some lentils which are growing just like our wobblers. For Mickey Mouse’s birthday we wore in red and black clothes and we made Mickey Mouse faces using toilet paper roll to make his ears. We celebrated Pyjama Day which the children loved wearing their pyjamas and having a lovely relaxing day with our teddy bears.

We celebrated World Vegan Day which is relative to some of our children so instead of our usual pizza Friday we had some lovely focaccia bread. We learned about Winter animals such as polar bears and penguins while we also made some polar bear handprints.

We also made white playdough for the children to make snowmen and made a big Christmas tree for our classroom.

Toddler Room News

During Stem Day we looked at temperatures, and we focused on snow and the cold temperature and learned where it came from and what to wear in the snow. We placed in hand in cold water and one hand in warm water at the same time.

For mickey mouse’s birthday we made red birthday hats and birthday cards and had great fun dancing to our mickey mouse cd.

For Pyjama Day we were snug as a bug in our room reading stories and cuddling our teddy bears and singing songs. We also put our teddy bears to bed and rubbed them to sleep.

We learned about people in our community (policeman, fireman, etc) and we also learned about what hats they all wear.
