As the Autumn season truly kicked in, we enjoyed lots of lovely fun learning. We loved learning about the Farm, Autumn colours and materials and
transport too. We celebrated Halloween towards the end of the month with lots of Halloween arts and crafts, games and Dress Up Days.
Our children also loved Pet Day and learning all about different world cuisines during World Food Day. During Beep Beep Day and Road Safety
Week, we did lots of games and activities to help us learn about the importance of road safety.

In this newsletter, we have shared some insight into the activities from each of our rooms that has taken place during the month of October. We

Activities from our Baby Room

This month the baby room learned all about puppets and had their own puppet show in their classroom they made
puppets by painting and colouring. They put on a show with the puppets and at the end they had a mini disco with
singing and dancing. The babies explored different textures and feelings by doing messy play with rice, lentils, paint,
playdough, slime and pasta. They created some sensory bags with paint inside for the children to explore other textures.
They also played with sand they used different shapes to play with the sand. We celebrated Cody’s first birthday.
The babies spent a lot of time in the garden learning and exploring nature, they played with the leaves and painted the
leaves, the babies enjoyed throwing the leaves up into the air and catching them. The babies learned all about the
different foods that they eat. They learned the difference between apple, pears, and oranges. We learned all about
Halloween and done lots of fun Halloween activities like made a big spider web using a black bag and created spiders
using our hands to hang from the web. The babies created witches also by using their handprints. The babies were doing
different monster sounds and created lots of different coloured monsters with their footprints.
The babies also decorated their classroom windows using paint on their hands to create scary handprints. The babies
done lots of pumpkin carvings and painting their pumpkins.
They done lots of messy play with leaves from the garden and paint this let the babies explore more textures and they
really enjoyed scrunching the leaves up with their hands.

 

 

 

 

Stories from our Wonderful Wobbler Room

This month the wobblers learned all about the different types of farm animals. We sang lots of songs about farm animals for
example ‘old mac Donald’ and ‘BINGO’ the children love singing these songs as they enjoy learning about the sounds that the
different animals make.
The wobblers created pigs using paper plates and they used them as masks and enjoyed continuously saying oink oink. We
created other animals from the song old mac Donald for example ducks using our handprints and the sound quack quack.
We created a farm and used it as our sensory/messy play using rice, paint, leaves from the garden and our farm animals from
our classroom. Another farm animal we talked about was sheep. The children love pretending to be sheep and making sheep
sounds they created sheep using cotton wool and this introduced different texture to the children. The wobblers also had
great interest in trucks, tractors, and cars this month.
We made a car using a recyclable box the children really enjoyed pretending to drive the car around the classroom and in the
garden. The wobblers painted the wheels of the cars in the classroom and wheeled them onto paper to create stamps of the
wheels. We introduced the wobblers to Halloween and read the stories about Halloween and done lots of fun activities for
example we used our foot and handprints to create ghosts, witches, bats, and monsters. We created lots of spider webs for
the classroom as the wobblers really enjoy talking about spiders and trying to find them in the garden they love to sing ‘the
incy wincey spider’.
We done lots of pumpkin carving and painting for Halloween. The wobblers spent a lot of time in the garden they were
interested in the weather and how its changing and wondering about it being dark. They explored the leaves that have fell
from the trees onto the ground in the wobbler garden. They enjoyed running through the leaves and throwing them up into
the air.

 

 

Tales from our Toddler Room

This month the toddlers learned all about the animals of the savannah their favourite animals were giraffes, lions, zebras,
and elephants the created these animals using their handprints. They learned about colours and learned all the colours of
the rainbow. The toddlers made giraffe head bands and done role play pretending to be giraffes. They done playdough
with the animals and made houses for the giraffes.
The toddlers talked about their pets they created domination prints using their hands and fingerprints, also they sing and
dance pet songs like “I have a pet” and read some book about pets like “It wasn’t me, me and my pet” They showed great
interest in space and what goes on in space. They paint a moon with sponges and stamp some stars with the shapes of the
playdough for decoration the mural of the class. They made aliens painting green plates with sponges and they paint
rockets with the brushes, choosing their favourite colours.
For Halloween toddlers enjoy making spiders, witches, vampire, ghost handprints. They paint cups to made pumpkins,
vampire, Fransketeins, monsters… To decoration the class for Halloween. Their sing and dance some Halloween song like “
Monster go away”.
We love to do messy play and this moth they discovered new texture: they mixed the rice with the paint ( wet and dry), they
paint some pasta with the Halloween colours to made necklaces, they enjoy playing with the sand and during the month
they play with different colours of playdough and shapes, but specially on Halloween their have Halloween playdough with
the Halloween colours and also with ghost, pumpkins and skeletons on it. On the garden time toddler enjoy playing with
the bikes following each other, singing song and dancing (sleeping bunnies, wheels on the bus, baby shark) doing role play
as animals, Halloween games : doing the role play as monsters and zombies.

 

 

Pre-School Room News

This month the Pre-schoolers learned all about road safety and cars. The children enjoyed celebrating Beep Beep Day by playing
traffic light games learning to stop on the colour red and go on the colour green. We learned the “Twinkle, twinkle traffic light”
song and used paint on our handprints to make our own traffic lights. We used paint on the toy cars wheels to make our own car
tracks and designed our own roads for our toy cars to drive on.

We enjoyed learning about the sky and wolves. We mixed black and white paint together to make grey to paint out wolf masks.
We used paint and sponges to make our own moon and stars, clouds and rainbows and rain for our classroom. The preschoolers
enjoyed learning about monsters. We made monsters using our handprints. The children stuck colourful paper and
decorated the paper plates how they wanted their monster to look.

 

 


The children enjoyed going on a “monster hunt” in the garden and they found a lot of different monsters. The children mixed
blobs of paint and folded the paper to make monsters. The children enjoyed a game of “monster says”. The pre-schoolers learned
about different professions such as firemen, doctors, and chefs this month.

Children enjoyed dressing up as these different professions and roleplaying the jobs they would do. We learned about squirrels,
hedgehogs and bats through arts and crafts by using their handprints or a toy fork to paint on the hedgehogs’ spikes. The
children made their own squirrels using paint and features of their choice.The pre-school children enjoyed celebrating Pet’s Day.
We made cats and dogs with our handprints and used different shapes to make different animals we own as pets. The children
enjoyed showing photographs from home of their own house pets.

 


The children learned all about how cameras and photography work and they made their own cameras using different
materials.The children explored Autumn and Nature as they had noticed the change in seasons in the garden when the leaves
changed colour and had fell from the trees. The children mixed Autumn paint colours and used sponges to create autumn trees.
The children enjoyed celebrating World Food Day using play dough to create their favourite foods and pretended to serve it to
their friends.

At the end of the month the children enjoyed celebrating Halloween by doing a lot of spooky arts and crafts to help decorate their
classroom. The children also enjoy decorating, painting, and carving the pumpkins they brought in. The children all dressed up in
their Halloween costumes and enjoyed the Halloween disco to songs such as Halloween Shark. The children had a lot of fun this
month.

 

After-School Adventures

This month the Afterschool children celebrated Pet’s Day by drawing the pets they would like to have. There were dogs, cats,
and some bunnies.

The children were excited to prepare for Halloween and decorated their classroom space.We coloured bat masks and made
pumpkins they coloured as if they were Jack O Lantern. The children enjoyed some Halloween stories. We drew pumpkins,
witches, ghosts, and haunted houses.

We made scary faces on paper and stuck paper on to pull the paper to open the mouth. The children enjoyed exercise in the
garden by playing a new game of Halloween hide and seek where the person seeking is the ghost. The children made a face
mask with “Halloween theme” and they chose to make scary faces. The children enjoyed carving their pumpkins creating lots of
different spooky and scary faces.

The children learned about road safety and how traffic lights work, we made our own set of lights and used it in the garden with
the bikes, the children made up their own signals that could be used on the road. The children made a “memory ball game” in
the garden using the ball and repeating what the person before had said.
