Activities from our Baby Room

What a busy month all our babies have had. As well as our normal routine of reading, singing, working on our fine motor skills, and enjoying garden time, we enjoyed lots of
other activities.

We made their own jigsaws, stamping our hands on paint. We also stamped animals on paint to make jigsaws and for our Animal theme, we loved to play with animal jigsaws
related to with sea, jungle and farm.

For St Patrick’s Day, we made an Irish Flag, painting it the Irish flag colours with hands and feet. We read books about Leprechauns and painted shamrocks to decorate our room and made cards for our parents.

We love music and sound, and made body sounds using hands, feet and our mouths. Playing musical instruments was great fun and something our babies love to do.

For our Transport theme, we made a circuit to play with cars, creating a racetrack and game to go with it.

During World Book Day, we read lots of our favourite stories and made cards for our Mums for Mother’s Day.

Stories from our Wonderful Wobbler Room

Our wobblers were having fun with their Animal theme, where they made pigs and sheep using paper plates. They painted a big ant and coloured their favourite animals using
chalk.

We love music and currently our favourite song is Baby Shark. We made our own instruments using bottles, rice, pasta, and small pieces of different coloured tissue paper.

We also made a rain stick using a tube and rice.

For St Patrick’s Day, we made a card to send home and added some lovely painted designs on them with our hands. We listened to Irish songs and tried to dance, painted Irish flags, and made aprons painted by our children saying, “I’m your lucky charm”.

For our colour’s week, we made a big rainbow, gluing pieces of paper on it and displayed it in our room. We mixed colours with our hands and observed the magic of colour change and mixing. We also made a bird feeder for our flying friends.

Tales from our Toddler Room

Learning all about different fruit and vegetables gave us the opportunity to explore different tastes.

We made our own plate and spoon and drew our favourite foods onto it and coloured of food from the books.

Our toddlers loved making a bird feeder using milk cartons, paint, and glitter. We have been making lots of lovely art displays for our rooms. We coloured pandas using crayons, paint a big lion, using crayons and pieces of paper for the hair, made a jellyfish, painting paper plates and pieces of paper, and painted a big cow and stamped our hands on black paint
for the body.

Spring is finally here! We made flowers and butterflies handprints and connectors from our construction area. We also used cardboard to make a big flowerpot.

Our community is a place that shapes us and with a sense of belonging, so learning all about this was really nice. We spoke about people in our community that may help us,
such as doctors, fire fighters and teachers.

For Mother’s Day, we made flowers and put them in a pot, and sunflowers for mum, using paper plates.

St. Patrick’s Day was all things green, as we made necklaces, painting them green, white and orange, Leprechauns masks using paper plates and shamrocks using green paint and
lots of glitter!

Preschool Room News

Our pre-school children have had a month of fun learning. We made robots with cardboard boxes & recycled material. This was two-fold, as we used different emotions on our robots to show our emotions, so we got to learn about them at the same time.

Spring has sprung, so we made flower handprints, paper flowers, planting activities and we discussed plant growth and enjoyed seeds and soil exploration. We added flowers to
our nature tables, and we decided to make our own flowers from recycled material and paint them. We also found time to plant our sunflower seeds too.

Who doesn’t love Ice cream? We made an ice cream corner and had ice creams made from cardboard and pretended to be at the seaside with all our friends having an ice cream and
enjoying the day. This was a lovely role play.

For International Women’s Day, we made handprints, cards, and love neck necklaces, to show thanks to our superhero women in our lives.

St Patricks Day was a day to learn all about leprechauns, shamrocks, and Irish traditions. We did lots of St Patricks Day arts & crafts, made a poster as a group of all things related to
St Patricks Day, and had a treasure hunt in garden for golden coins.

We loved learning all about the Continents and looked for all the continents on a map. We made a map of world using different coloured paper for the different continents, European flags, and flags of the world.

For our topic about Countries, we made different folders for different countries. The folders had pictures and famous buildings from different countries. For our luggage game,
the children picked where they wanted to go and had to tell us things about that country.

We made a Vegetable Garden and learned the different type of vegetables, how they grow and how good they are for us to eat. We planted some carrots to watch them grow and hopefully we can use and eat them soon. We also made a bird feeder and learned about different birds.

The Zoo topic let us explore Animals we find in the zoo, what food the animals eat and the environment they live in. We also learned about different parts of the animal’s bodies.

Exploring Stem Materials was such fun. We set up a gigantic domino out stem material and added a wrecking ball and built a gigantic tunnel out of recycled plastic bottle. We
observed what happens to different toys if you flip them or roll them or throw them.

Naíscoil Room News

For our Bees theme, our Naíscoil children learned about what they eat, where they live and what they do. We made beehives and bees with bubble wrap & kitchen rolls.

We also do lots of planting, growing lettuce, chives and sunflowers. We are starting our own vegetable garden on our roof garden. We cannot wait to see it grow and flourish.

Exploring the Life Cycle of birds & butterflies was a nice way for us to learn about how they operate. We made birds’ nests with hatching chicks, and using pasta shapes we made the
full butterfly life cycle. We have real caterpillars coming to our Naíscoil room to take care of and watch them until they grow into butterflies.

And for Mother’s Day and St Patrick’s Day, we made cards, shamrock head bands, made leprechauns art, shamrocks, hats & flags.

After-school Adventures

Some topics are after-school learned about this month included

Animals, Spring and pirates.
For our animals’ theme, we spoke about where they live, what they eat & how to protect them.

For our Spring topic, we talked about how spring is the best season to plant, so we planted some seeds to watch them grow. We observed our flowers growing process, drew and painted with flower petals and leaves.

For St Patrick’s Day, we talked about the history of St Patrick, why its celebrated and why it’s so important to Ireland. We built a famous bridge in Ireland and decorated it as a tribute to
St Patrick.

As well as all of this, we had time to make a pirate ship, pirates & treasures too.
