We have had such fun over the past three months, as we enjoyed the rest of the summer and the nice sunshine in July and August.

We took advantage of the nice weather outdoors and played lots of games and had fun with our friends in the fresh air.
In September, we welcomed lots of new children to our rooms and we have formed some lovely new friendships together.

In this newsletter, we have shared some insight into the activities from each of our rooms that has taken place during the month of
September. We have also shared some photos with you from our July & August activities. We hope you enjoying browsing through them.

Activities from our Baby Room

Our Babies had a great month this month getting familiar with their new environment.
We explored a lot about are bodies this month through movement and arts and craft. We enjoyed lots of messy play and
got very messy crawling all over the paint.
We loved all our sensory play, with feathers, wet sand, dry sand, water, Playdough.
All the babies have become very confident using the walkers and are starting to imitate one another and copy what each
other are doing.
We all loved the song The Wheels on the Bus, so made a big bus out of cardboard to sit in while we sang the song each
morning.
We painted the bus with red paint using sponges to help us with our palmer grip but most of the babies were more
curious to see how the red paint felt like on their fingers and hands.

 

Stories from our Wonderful Wobbler Room

We had a very busy month in our wobbler room.
We loved to dance a lot in our new room and we had a Hawaiian music beach party to celebrate the last of the summer.
We also created shakers to help us dance to the rhythm of the music using all different types of pastas and rice to create
different sounds.
We loved to explore different ways to paint with different textures. We used coloured ice to paint.
We used herbal tea to create pictures for autumn as we were starting to notice all the leaves falling off the tree in our garden.
The children are all becoming very interested in the bin truck that arrives every Thursday morning, so we are starting to learn
about the different transport we see on the way to creche and are creating vehicles using cardboard and other recyclable
materials.

Tales from our Toddler Room

Toddlers had a great month this month exploring there new rooms and getting familiar with their new Edu carers. We done
lots of time welcoming are friends in the Morning and doing lots of activities with lots of interaction to help some of our
new friends settle in to their new environment.
We loved to celebrate Read a book day this month. It was lovely and sunny in the garden so we spent lots of time reading
with Roberto and Guillermo sitting on the parachute which also turned in to us playing ‘hop little bunnies after.
We loved to create a new birthday wall in our room and while we were making it we learned all about space. We made
ourselves into astronauts and learnt about the moon and the stars.
A lot of our friend took trips to the farm this month so we learnt a lot about the farm and created lovely paintings using the
wheels of the tractors.
We had a great day this week celebrating grandparents day. We loved to learn new songs to sing for our grandparents and
making cards/ gifts to take home to our grandparents.

Our senior toddlers had a fantastic month learning all about their friends and families, they made their own family tree to
stick up all of their family photos, they drew pictures of their pets or favourite animals and made lovely cards for their
friends welcoming them all to their new classroom. They made family puppets and a puppet theatre to use during role play
and talk all about our families and what they love most about them. They shared lots of funny stories about our families
and pets. They made their own houses using lollipop sticks and drew pictures of all their family in the house with them.
All of our toddlers were really interested in the community and all of the people that help us, they loved learning all about
the firefighters, Garda’s, Postmen and Chefs. They made their own fire engine and garda hats and had great fun doing role
play putting out fires and saving all of their friends. They made their own letter box and drew lovely cards and pictures for
their friends. They made aprons and chef hats and during sensory play they made cakes and cookies using playdough and
decorating them with pompoms and glitter.
They made their own shop in the class and made a big sign to display in their class, they made shopping lists using pictures
of their favourite foods from different food magazines. They made their own ice creams during art and craft to sell to their
friends.
Our toddlers been very busy learning all about Autumn and all of the different changes they will see during this season,
they enjoyed lots of sensory play with leaves, conkers, and pinecones. They did some leaf painting with leaves they had
collected with their mums and dads on the way to creche in the mornings. They made their own sensory box for them to
feel around and guess what they think is in the box. They discussed the different animals they see around, some of the
children were interested in hedgehogs so they made their own hedgehogs using playdough and lollipop sticks for their
spikes.
Our Senior toddler class have had a very busy month and are looking forward to all of the great activities they have in store
for October.

 

Pre-School Room News

Preschool
We have had a very busy September getting to know all of our new friends and educarers, all of our preschool rooms were busy
making family trees to display all of their pictures. The children love seeing their pictures up on the tree and are always very
proud showing them off to all their friends. They made lovely cards for their friends welcoming them to their new class. They had
lots of fun getting to know their new friends and sharing lots of different stories with them. They drew self portraits of themselves
and their friends to display around the class. We made our own height charts for the class to see how tall we are, and we will
keep track of how tall we are getting over the preschool year. They really love comparing heights and seeing how tall they all are.
The children were learning all about the different emotions and how they can express their own feelings and how they might be
able to help they friends who might be feeling shy or sad in the class. They made an emotions monster to display in the class and
used lots of different colours to represent all of their different emotions.
In preschool we celebrated friendship day and had lots of different activities on the go, some pre-schoolers made friendship
bracelets for their friends, and some made cards and pictures. We all discussed how to be nice and kind to their friends and what
actions can make their friends sad at times, all of the children had a great day celebrating friendship and having great fun with all
of our friends.

A lot of the children were very interested in the changes happening around them in nature, they have all noticed the leaves
changing colours and falling off the trees. They have been very busy collecting leaves and conkers for their nature table and love
adding different objects throughout the week. They have all been discussing the differences between summer and winter and all
of the changes that happen and what different clothes they would have to wear. They have all been very busy making lots of arts
and crafts, some of the children made acorns, they did leaf painting, owls, and autumn trees. They are all looking forward to
watching more changes happen over the coming weeks.
A lot of our preschool children were very interested in construction and transport. They made their own cars and fire engines,
they brought their cars up to the garden and made a road using cones, they had some traffic lights and garda around making
sure all of the drivers were being safe. They made some airplanes using wooden pegs and painted clouds and all of the different
objects they have seen when they have been on an airplane. They made their own road and train tracks to use when they’re
playing with the cars.
We all really enjoyed learning about people in our community, lots of children were very interested in builders and construction
as they had seen a lot happening around their homes, they really enjoyed making their own cities and homes using the
construction blocks in their class, they really enjoyed sharing with their friends what they had seen around their community and
what different equipment and machinery they had seen.

Naíscoil
Our Naíscoil class have been very busy over the last month we started with getting to know our new classroom and new
friends, sharing stories of all our families and what we love most to do. We made a big family tree to display all of our family
photos, we loved showing everyone in the class our pictures. We made our houses using lollipop sticks and drew all of our
family members inside. We made mirrors and discussed all of the features that make us different from everyone else, we also
discussed what similarities we saw between us, lots of children noticed that a lot of them had similar eye and hair colours. We
made our own height chart and decorated it drawing lots of lovely pictures, we measured ourselves and are really looking
forward to seeing how much we grow over the preschool year.
We discussed a lot about our emotions and how to express our emotions, we discussed how we all felt about some new
changes that have happened over the month ie new class, new friends and how we can help each other feel happy in our new
class. We have been using our emotions wheel every morning to see how everyone is feeling and how we can help some of our
friends who might be feeling sad or shy. We made our emotions monster and colour him in lots of different rainbow colours to
represent all of our emotions. We had a great day celebrating ‘Friendship Day’ and spoke about how we can be nice to our
friends and what we could do to make our friends happy, we really enjoyed making a huge friendship heart with everyone in
the class.

We have been discussing lots about healthy eating and what foods are good or us to help us grow, to help us understand this
we have been planting lots of different vegetables in our greenhouse, we have grown lots of lettuce and have been enjoying
having it with our tea, we’ve also planted carrots and peas and love watching them grow and check everyday what changes
have happened. While learning all about healthy food we have been learning lots of different fruit and vegetables while playing
our Irish bingo game, we love playing bingo so much that we play it almost every day. As well as discussing healthy food we
have been talking about how we can keep our body and minds healthy by keeping active, we have been doing lots of exercises
and yoga during our garden times.
We have had a very busy month in our Naíscoil class and not to forget all of the different Irish words we have been learning as
well, we’ve been learning our colours, emotions, numbers, and all about the weather.

After-School Adventures

After a great summer off school the after schoolers couldn’t wait to share all of their summer stories with their friends, they
drew pictures of where they had visited and what they had eaten and done while on their holidays. They shared lots of different
stories and discussed their favourite part about it and why.
They made their own airplane, passports and discussed everything they had packed to bring on their holidays. They made a
map of the world and pointed out where they had been on holidays before and discussed how long it took them, if they had to
drive, get the train, fly, or get a boat.
All of the children really enjoyed learning and sharing all of the information the had on wild animals, they made their own wild
fish and designed them in lots of different shapes, sizes, and colours, they came up with new names for them and shared with
their friends what they ate, and where they live. They all discussed what their favourite animal was and shared all of the facts
they knew about them. They had a great game of guess who where one of their friends would act out and animal and they all
had to guess what they were.
Our after schoolers had great fun making their family tree and love seeing all of their photos up on the wall, they love sharing
stories of their family and all the adventures they’ve been on. They made their own frames and drew lots of pictures of all of
their family members. They really enjoyed watching videos that some of their grandparents sent in for grandparents’ day.
The after schoolers have been getting ready for Autumn making their nature boxes, they’ve been talking all about the changes
that happen during Autumn and how we can prepare for them. They have been collecting lots of different materials for their
nature box and love seeing all of the changes outside in nature.
We are really looking forward to seeing what’s in store for all of our preschool and afterschool classes over the next few
months.
