What a jam packed month we had in October in Links Childcare Balbriggan.

We celebrated Links 15th year anniversary in abundance, with a lovely party in crèche. Cake, dancing, singing and games was the order of the day, with Mr Links, our big bear friend calling in to visit us too.

For Halloween we dressed up and helped raise money for Temple Street hospital. Thank you to all our parents for your support. Our children really enjoyed Transport Week, where we learned all about different forms of transport. We also learned some vital important lessons on road safety and the rules of the road.

We hope you enjoy our newsletter and we look forward to lots more fun learning next month.

Baby Room News

October was packed full of exciting and fun events, and our babies loved them all, especially our sensory themed play.

Here is a round up below of what we did in October:

• Transport Learning and Beep Beep Day: Our babies did lots of transport arts and crafts and we sang some new songs about going to the shops on our little bikes
• Welcome Autumn: We loved our sensory baskets which were filled up with various things such as rice, leaves, twigs and dried pasta. Our babies were fascinated over leaves and the sound it makes when we crush them with our little fingers
• Happy Birthday LINKS: Our babies made some cards for our birthday and stamped their hands and feet on them with colourful paint
• Farm Animal Day: We love animals and we loved our new books about the farm and baby animals
• Halloween: Our babies made the most amazing Halloween decorations. We really enjoyed our sensory Halloween bags, which had colourful water in it, and some fake spiders and creepy crawlies in them. Our babies were determined to get their little hands on them. It was so much fun. Our Halloween baskets were full of sensory items for us to explore and play with too. We also made little ghost handprints and witch handprints to hang around the room

Wobbler & Toddler Room News

We had a fun month in our Wobbler & Toddler Rooms in October, and we had lots of fun activities
and events.

For Transport and National Beep Beep Day we were playing with cars, airplanes and trucks in our room. We had a track to put our cars on and we shared turns on crossing the road with our friends.

It was super exciting when Mr Links the bear came to visit us for the 15th birthday of Links Childcare. Some of our wobblers were a little overwhelmed by him, but it was nice to see him briefly and to give him a wave from a distance.

Our rooms were filled with beautiful autumn art and Halloween spooky art too. We had a lovely bake sale for Temple Street and dressed up for our Halloween party in our room too. Our children were so excited about showing their friends and Educarers their costumes. We also did a sensory bath bomb activity, which smelt great and was fascinating.

Preschool Room News

Some events we enjoyed in Preschool included:

– Links Birthday Party
– Autumn
– Beep Beep Day
– Cupcake Day
– Trick or Treat for Temple Street

Preschool 1 —
The children were very excited about celebrating Halloween. We decorated our room with bats, spooky ghost, funny pumpkins and other Halloween crafts.
For National Beep Beep Day we loved making our traffic signs (stop sign, traffic lights, turn signs and speed signs) and learning the rules of the road with our Educarers. We did lots of art too.
We totally adore role play, and especially love playing Superheroes. The children enjoyed dressing up and acting out pretending to be superheroes and “saving the day”.
We also opened our own Preschool Restaurant and talked about our favourite food. We did arts and crafts to represent our yummy meals and took turns in playing customers and restaurant owners.
Following on from our emerging interests, we read the story of the Three Little Pigs and the chil-dren really enjoyed making houses for the pigs too.

Preschool 2 —
On Beep Beep Day we did some transport and road safety activities and went outside to play with our bikes.
We used flashcards to talk about different farm animals and we built our own farm. The best part of talking about the farm was learn how to milk a cow! So much fun!
We opened our own restaurant called “Chocolate Res-taurant” where everyone could be a chef and costum-ers. We did our menus “made breakfast” for our Educar-ers.
Our children loved building their castle using the blocks in the STEM centre and we made masks for princes and princesses. In Me and My World we drew a castle and created our own characters to put in them.

Afterschool Room News

Our after schoolers are so creative—they made Coco the clown using recycled boxes and they also made a photobooth for Halloween.

We are doing Music, movement and Dance on Tuesdays, Spanish with Beatriz on Thursdays and bak-ing on Fridays, so its very busy. We are loving all of our activities after our homework club.

For Trick or Treat for Temple Street the after schoolers once again showed their creative side by mak-ing the most coolest and spookiest artwork for our walls. It was so much fun dressing up too.
