What a fun few months we have had.
We kick started the new year of 2022 with our New Years Resolutions and enjoyed exploring our 5 senses, the human body and the human skeleton, as well as the circus. Our children also loved National Puzzle Day and creating some very cool inventions during Inventors Day. In February, we celebrated Chinese New Year, St Valentines Day and enjoyed Balance Day and had so much fun for Carnival Day.

In this newsletter, we have shared some insight into the activities from each of our rooms that has taken place during the month of January and February. We hope you enjoy browsing through them.

Activities from our Baby, Wobbler & Toddler Rooms

In January children our Wobblers and Toddlers were learning about traffic lights. They learned about traffic colours and how to cross the road by doing age-appropriate activities.
Children loved garden time where they could do role play and drive cars and bikes, they also used stop sign in the garden during the play.
We also had emerging interests for Fairy Tales. They love the story The Little Red Riding Hood and enjoyed arts and crafts time where they got to make castles, crowns, mirrors, wands.
We celebrated Fit and Fun Day and had lots of fun in the garden running, dancing and playing.
Our children explored a topic about fingers and toes and we made foot and handprint activities. They sang a song about body parts and they loved to count with their fingers.
They also had fun making chicken, fish and owls during arts and crafts time.
Our children had fun making circus animals face masks and explored circus through arts and crafts they made nice clowns, elephants, lions, horses, and snakes.
They loved listening to the Dumbo story during story time. For National Puzzle Day children played with jigsaws and puzzles.
Our children are so clever and have been learning about numbers and different colours. They played a game the I Spy game about colours and enjoyed number arts and crafts. They also enjoyed painting with different colours.
Children loved painting spring flowers and made nice caterpillars and ladybugs. They also loved handprints arts during the arts and crafts time. They were exploring the garden looking for bugs. Babies loved playing peekaboo games in the garden and for Mini Beasts Day we enjoyed story time about a caterpillar.
In February, our emerging interests was about growing flowers. The children explored flowers, planted seeds, and are enjoying watching them grow every day. Children loved handprints painting, and made Hyacinthus and dandelions using forks and paints. For St Valentine’s Day children made lovely cards for their families.
Our children were interested in colours and the Zoo as children showed great interest in painting and messy play. We made a colour wheel and had lots of fun learning new colours. For Carnival Day we dressed up and had a lovely fun day.

Pre-School Room News

In Preschool we learned all about our Five Senses. The children have enjoyed different and fun activities such as tasting food, touching soft materials, smelling different smells.
We made a hand with different texture on each finger smooth, hard, soft, bumpy and rough using different materials that children can find in their environment.
We also made a potato head and stuck eyes, lips and ears and noses on it.
For our New Year resolution event we were talking about how to be better friend and drew a heart and each child coloured what ever they wanted related to love and kindness.
Our children loved playing with technology toys in the room, and they enjoyed arts and crafts time making tv, stereo, telephone. We also learned about Recycling and Pollution. They made recycling green bin and glued paper into it. They also made recycling sign using hand prints.
Our children showed an interest in Zoo animals and construction. We made elephants, leopards and made a zoo out of our construction blocks and magnets for the animals to live in. We read Zoo related books during our story time. We had lots of fun during music and movement time singing and walking in the jungle and enjoyed role playin the garden pretending to be monkeys, tigers, gorillas.
For Inventions Day our children learned about the Spanish invention, the mop.
We also loved yoga and relaxation time.
For our Emotions, we read The Colour Monster book and talked about our emotions and feelings. Children had fun during the arts and crafts time making coloured monsters and painting it with different colours of emotions.
For Puzzle Day we created a big coloured monster puzzle. As part of our curriculum our children made a human skeleton using cotton wool.
First week of February emerging interest in preschool 1 was The Show Must Go On.
Children had lots of fun during music and movement time. They made their own music instruments such a xylophones, trumpets, and pianos and had their own music performance show, where they pretended to have their own orchestra, with the musical instruments they made, they loved singing and dancing too.
For Balance Day we did Yoga pretending to be trees in the forest and keeping the balance against the wind.
As Spring is coming children learned about the new season. Children made a big flower using handprints, they made butterflies using different colours and shapes, they made bees and ladybugs for Mini Beasts Day.
Children continued having fun with Music interest second week of February as related to spring and music children loved listening to Vivaldi during the yoga time. We also learned about life cycle of butterfly. We made sensory bottles using pasta and rice. The children had fun during the arts and crafts time making pigs, sheep, and hens. They loved to pretend to be farm animals during the garden time and make sounds like some farm animals. We had messy play with compost and farm animals.
For St Valentine’s Day children made laminated posters for their families. We also learned about submarines they made submarines using paper plates. They also made airplanes, space rocket and boats. Children enjoyed waterplay with boats. We learned about life cycle of a frog too.
For Carnival Day children had fun dressing up with their teachers. They played a game Who is Who during music and movement time.

After-School Room News

Our After-school children had lots of fun. They had a Lego competition, enjoyed garden time, PE, music and movements and baking.
They love to role play and every day they have adventures pretending to be on an airplane, in a restaurant, pretending to be teachers in school. They also loved to play the supermarket game where they use cash machine and money.
Children made multi-coloured flowers for Spring and butterflies during the arts and crafts time. They also made lovely Valentines cards for their families.
After schoolers love garden time and playing different games, doing yoga and dancing. Overall, they had lots of fun this month.
