Activities from our Baby Room

The first week of march we were looking at the animals in the zoo. We painted paper plates with different colours and made them into animals. We loved to explore the animal sounds and rein act them.

The following week was St. Patricks week, so we did a lot of green activities, and we made a leprechaun and rainbow display for our window!

Then, we decided to pick a colour per day and explore different objects that are that colour in our classroom. We loved getting messy and painting objects to match the colour of the day. At the end of the week, we put all of the pictures together and made a colour book that we brought home to show our Moms and Dads.

Finally, the babies were extremely interested with the different forms of transport that we have in our classroom e.g., trucks, cars and they particularly love to see all the trucks go by the window every day.

Stories from our Wonderful Wobbler Room

This months in the wobbler room we have looked at the topic’s birds, St Patricks Day, and the zoo.

We started with making a bird house out of cardboard and put it on a tree in the garden. During that week we had the World book Day, with this we dressed up like little chicks just like in the story we created last month ‘Pepe the chick’.

For St. Patricks week we were really excited for all the arts and crafts. We made our own leprechaun and took a close look at shamrocks with a magnifying glass. The children really enjoyed the disco party with Irish music.

The Wobblers are obsessed with animals, so we made a giant giraffe out of cardboard boxes, and we painted and printed their hands to make the markings of a giraffe. The children were astonished at the size of the giraffe! As one of our favourite songs is ‘Old Mac Donald’ we created our own farm, we used sand and grass to do this. This provided the children with a sensory activity as well as them enjoying getting messy in the classroom.

The children particularly loved the cow we made of carboard boxes. We put milk into rubber gloves and the children got to milk the cow!!

Tales from our Toddler Room

This month in the toddler room we explored the following topics: Birds In the sky, St Patrick’s Day, and Clothes.

To explore birds, we spoke briefly about the weather, this allows children to expand vocabulary and to use their personal experiences with the other children in the room. We made our own weather chart and our own sky full of clouds, rain, lightening and the sun. We made an aeroplane, and we noticed a few aeroplanes in the garden when we were playing! We loved this a lot!!

The upcoming days to St. Patricks Day we loved creating decorations for the classroom, these included hats, flags, and shamrocks. We had a Patricks Day party where some of the staff Irish Danced! The children love to put on the disco light and dance around to their favourite songs!

Finally, we looked at ‘clothes. The children loved discussing the colour of their shoes, coat, jumper, hat etc. We spoke about what clothes we wear for different parts of the day and for the different types of weather! We made a clothesline and created our own t-shirts!

Pre-School Room News

Pre-school 1

March has been an extremely busy and exciting month for us in PS1. We have looked at topics such as Art, International Women’s Day and in the garden (insects).

We spent the week exploring different art techniques e.g., splashing our paintbrushes on the page, using our hand, feet and fingers, painting with fruit and other objects. We loved to mix the colours and add our masterpieces to our ‘art gallery’.

Selene, who is one of the educarers in the room created a mural of ‘Frieda Kalo’ who is a famous artist and feminist from Mexico with the help of the children.

The children in PS1 were very busy in the kitchen baking tasty treats and we even made insects using salt dough! We absolutely loved decorating them with paint and glitter. We created a special garden and found a home for them in there! When the children.

We part-took in lots of role play with the babies in the class, our friends and educarers! We created our own doctor kit using art and craft materials and we put them in our scrapbooks for Moms and Dads to see!

The children loved learning fun facts relating to this national holiday and what traditions come along with it too. We loved to create various art and crafts such as hats, shamrocks, and flags.

For the third week we spoke all about the different animals that we see at the zoo. We read stories that had zoo animals in it, and we loved learning facts about animals such as giraffe, snakes, and peacocks. We played an acting game and listened to animal noises.

Pre-school 3

We had a wonderful month in pre-school 3 and everyone was delighted to see the sun shining. It gave us a great opportunity to go and see the different kinds of insects that live in the garden. We saw spiders, worms, woodlice and bees.
