In The Full Swing Of Spring

Over the past four weeks, we have had such a busy, fun filled time, learning and playing together.

From themed events for Carnival Day, enjoying lots of dancing, singing and all things colourful, to diving into the different fantastic worlds in our story books for World Book Day. It has been most fun.

Pancake Tuesday was enjoyed with lots of tasty homemade pancakes made by our amazing Chefs. We also helped support Mental Health Ireland by taking part in their Smiley Pancake Day. Thank you to all who donated and supported.

We are delighted to welcome back some of our ECCE children. It is so great to be together again.

We are still missing some of our friends who have yet to return back to crèche with us, but we look forward to seeing them soon. In the meantime, we hope our children at home have been enjoying the videos we have posted on our Social Media Channels.

And we hope they are enjoying some of our curriculum learning at home too. Feel free to share any activities you have been enjoying at home with us.

In this newsletter, we have shared some insight into the activities from each of our rooms that has taken place over the last four weeks .

Just a additional note to say that our Baby Rooms are nearing capacity in all of our crèches for 2021 so we would like to advise any parents that might be expecting and if you require any sibling places, please enroll as soon as possible. Application forms are available from us or you can also contact Kim from our Admissions Team on kim.jones@linkschildcare.ie.

Our next newsletter for you will be in four weeks time, in the middle of April, where we will share more news with you on what our children have been doing.

Take Care.

Daniela

Activities from our Baby Room

Here in our Baby Room, we love to sing. Our favourite song over the last few days has been “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”, singing it and repeating part of our bodies.

We are learning about clothes too, and we made a sensory box with clothes in it to feel different textures.

Our Educarers drew a human figure and parts of clothing and we used this to identify where the clothes fit on our bodies.

We also explored the Zoo theme, animals and birds and enjoyed lots of time out in the garden.

Stories from our Wonderful Wobbler Room

Our wobblers loved Mini Beast Week, where we learned about snail, ladybugs, bees and caterpillars.

We enjoyed reading “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and from that book we painted butterflies with squares sponges and colourful paper.

Our children made frozen insects, fishes and dinosaurs and loved messy play with green spaghetti and little animals and insects too.

For World Book Day, our Educarers read The Colour Monster and we spoke about our feelings. We also had a puppet show too and made little characters to include in our performance.

Tales from our Toddler Room

Our children were very interested in Spring and the weather as children began to see the sun again. We engaged in water play outside with animals that live in the water, and we painted with our brushes as we made our family garden.

Our children also got to see the leaves on the trees and notices the different shades and colours.

Another topic we were interested in was birds and nature as the children are seeing more birds in the sky.

We painted lollypops sticks and made a bird house for everyone and then painted birds so everyone could have one for their bird house.

Preschool Room News

Our preschool children had fun a fun packed four weeks of learning through play!

Preschool 1

For our Zoo theme, our Educarers Rachel and Lourdes used different types of pasta and rice and got the children to use food colouring to dye the food. We then created our very own sensory zoo and placed our zoo animals in it.

We painted our hands and used our fingers to place dots on our very own giraffes.

We created a 3D version of a giraffe by sticking cardboard together, the children decided to paint in yellow and to give it multicoloured spots!

The children chose this idea on world book day whilst we were reading their favourite story “Monkey Treble”

We made playdough zoo animals, created a zoo farm with sand and water play.

Preschool 2

For our Spring theme, we talked about the growth of the trees, grass and flowers. We planted seeds and watched how they grow. We cannot wait to see them bud into little flowers.

We created a Spring box for our sensory learning and added Spring flowers, seeds, leaves and sticks to it.

Our children wanted to find out how our lungs work so they make an experiment with a bag and a straw. After that they also wanted to know how our organs work and why do we need them. This was a very interesting topic of discussion.

As well as all of these activities, we also enjoyed baking, making gloop, practising yoga, having races in the garden and played football and basketball.

Afterschool Adventures

Our after-school children loved being back and getting to enjoy the garden.

We did flower arts and crafts and checked our plants and took note of how they have grown. While in the garden we brought paper and colours, drawing what we could see in the garden.

We played lots of games in the garden, dodgeball, and relay races. We celebrated world book day reading new books and reading a book in Spanish learning lots of new words. We made monster bookmarks for our reading at home.

We also welcomed our new teacher Gema to the room.

We also explored the theme of “The Zoo”. We got creative making lots of zoo animal arts and crafts. We got ourselves moving with animal yoga and Simon Says with an animal twist! We made animal cookies too.

For Spanish we tried learning all the different animals we would see in the zoo. On Friday we made cards and crafts for all our lovely moms of Mother’s Day.

As well as all this, we enjoyed pancakes for Pancake Tuesday, music and movement classes, learned all about the life cycle of frogs and butterflies and created lots of wonderful Spring art.
