Activities from our Baby Room

This month we have really enjoyed activities related to earth, nature, space, Easter and picnics.

Earth and nature: We used our handprints to create a picture of the globe. The children love to get messy with the different colours and using them to take a pretty picture to display on our classroom wall. We went out to the garden and explore the different materials out there, such as sticks, leaves, muck. We collected these and we brought them into our room to create a nature collage. We played with sand and soil as a sensory activity, the children loved to sit in the box and to feel the sand/soil in between their toes.

Space: we loved to explore different textures and colours of rocks to symbolise the moon and planets. We coloured pictures of the different planets and recalling the colours as we use them. We loved to sing songs about space and being an astronaut.

The babies love to have a singsong and dance at the end of their day, they are amazed to watch the disco light flashing around the room.

Stories from our Wonderful Wobbler Room

We had a fantastic month in the Wobbler room, we had activities based around Fairy tales, chocolate, food, and Easter.

Fairy tales: for this topic, we read books of all the Disney fairy tales. The children loved this as it provides them with the opportunity to link experiences at home on their tv with being in creche.

Food; the children loved making a food pyramid out of cardboard and displaying it in their classroom. We painted some recyclables materials and added them to a healthy and unhealthy diagram on our wall.

The children were very excited about Easter this year, we created easter eggs using salt dough and painted them bright colours. The children read a story about the easter bunny and what happens when he/she comes to our house!

Tales from our Toddler Room

Toddlers have been very busy this Easter exploring topics such as Family, Food, Easter and The Earth! We have all been prepping for our visit from the Easter Bunny and for one of our favourite days Space Day!

It was a great month filled with lots of sensory activities including sand, water, play dough, colouring our own rice and chickpeas, and making salt dough!

Family: We created a wall dedicated to our family pictures and photos. We also created our own pictures of family using paper plates, paint and sticks! We dedicated time for each child to speak about their families using their photos or pictures. The children really loved this! During this week we also got to explore outer space for space day!! We mad our very own astronaut hats using tinfoil (which was kindly gifted to us by Charlie) and we also made our very own moon using cardboard!

Food: The second week we decided to experiment with different types of food each day. We baked muffins and cheese and ham croissants (so yummy!) and we also carried out lots of sensorial activities with food exploring the different tastes and textures.

Easter: We were all hopping mad in Toddlers for our Easter week! We loved singing and dancing to our favourite song Sleeping Bunnies! We also got busy in the kitchen yet again and made our own Easter eggs using salt dough. We decorated them with lots of glitter and paint and got to bring them home to show our families!

The Earth: We love upcycling in our class, so we used some milk cartons and yogurt pots to create our own musical instruments! We borrowed some rice and chickpeas from Charlie so we could make some fun noises! We decorated our instruments with lots of paint and feathers!

The circus: the children loved to talk about the circus after they saw photos of their friend Cameron going with his family! We made crafts of the different animals we see in the circus, played with animals in sand and water and even made some streamers that Cameron saw being used as part of one of the acts!

We did a lot of writing exercises including tracing and writing letters of the alphabet using different materials like pencils, makers, crayons, paint, and glitter! The children had an absolute blast doing this!
